Contract Duration: 7 Months (This position is designed for a long-term perspective, initially this post is for 7 months)
Location: Amman- Jordan (with possibility of travel in Jordan and abroad)

About DIGNITY
DIGNITY is an independent non-governmental anti-torture institution founded in 1982 in Denmark. DIGNITY cooperates with non-state and state partners in Asia, Africa, the MENA Region and Central America based on its more than thirty years of experience with rehabilitation of torture victims and prevention of torture and organized violence.
In 2008, DIGNITY began working in Jordan, and in 2014 DIGNITY opened its office in Amman, in support of its Jordan projects in the areas of access to justice, prevention of torture and rehabilitation for torture victims, through several Jordanian and international partners. Jordan Office consists of 6 staff members.
General Duties & Responsibilities
In line management, the Country Director will refer to the International Programs Director, while operationally coordinate closely with MENA Senior Regional Manager located both in the HQ in Copenhagen.
The Country Director is expected to:
1. Contribute to the development and implementation of DIGINTY’s policy, strategies, and annual plans.
2. Represent DIGNITY in Jordan and the region in accordance with our values, mandate, and strategies.
3. Responsible for the day-to-day management of the country office and its staff, overseeing finance, administrative, human resources issues, and the provision of progress and financial reports as required by the government and DIGNITY.
4. Take the lead on fundraising and seek opportunities in Jordan and the region (ex. Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Iraq) – in coordination with the office in Copenhagen.
a. Establish and develop working relationships with key donors and actively look for funding sources appropriate to DIGNITY and its partners’ needs.
b. Maintain professional relationships with Danish MFA technical advisors and participate in local synergy meetings and other activities requested by the MFA.
5. Contribute to the development and implementation of DIGNITY’s programs in Jordan in corporation with DIGNITY’s partners – within the Karama program and within the humanitarian responses.
Qualifications and Skills
1. Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
2. Have knowledge and experience of managing human rights project in an ever-evolving context
3. Managerial skills and experience to manage an office.
4. Partnerships: while keeping current partnerships, having the ability to network and build synergies with governmental institutions, CSOs, multilateral institutions, foreign missions in Jordan, and INGOs.
5. Financial Management
6. Being a multitasker efficiently
7. You have in-depth understanding of Jordan as well as the MENA region and you have a strong track record in promoting coordination between different parties, state, and non-state.
Benefits and Entitlements
The contract is a 7-month contract with a possibility for extension. Working days are Sunday to Thursday, from 9 am – 4pm with flexibility. Benefits include Social Security, Class A medical insurance and a very friendly team working atmosphere. This position is offered on National Terms & Conditions of Employment.
